David Luhrssen is co-founder and Managing Editor of the Shepherd Express, an alternative weekly newspaper, and has written books on film, music and other aspects of culture, articulating timeless themes rooted in historical experience. His experience encompasses manuscript doctoring, copy editing and ghost writing.
Emerging as a critic during the whirlwind birth of punk rock in the 1970s, David Luhrssen believes that writers should be active participants in their culture, not merely observers. He brings a depth of knowledge and scope of understanding to his writings on film, music and history..
Educated in cultural and intellectual history, David Luhrssen addresses the ways ideas shape reality and how the past shapes the present in books, articles and talks.
